At FACT engineering we use our Epilog Mini 18 (45 watt) to manufacture a product from ABS plastic. We run our laser continuously 5 days a week 10 hours per day vector cutting this product and we found that the standard honeycomb vector cutting table lasts only a very short time under this type of use. At over $200.00 USD replacement cost per vector grid we absolutley had to do something differently. We searched for a alternative, but nothing existed and in typical FACT fashion, we invented something - and it works fantastically.
Our support system for vector cutting consists of a series of machined aluminum bars that replace the vector cutting grid. One type of bar is placed at the left and right edges of the laser underneath the fold down rulers and the second type of bar is placed in the field as needed.
The support bars are a stout 5/8" wide by 1/2" thick making them totally impervious to the laser and heat generated from cutting. Each bar has a raised knife edge support machined into it, on which the material to be cut rests. The knife edge support keeps the back side of the material being cut clean.
After thousands of hours of use, our orignal support bars show zero wear and we are confident that they will easily outlast the life of the laser itself.

Each Vector Master starter kit includes two edge support bars (left & right) and three field support bars. For most operations, three field bars should be plenty. We do most of our own cutting using the edge bars and one field bar. Additionl field bars may be purchased separately if more support is needed.
